| Sumario: | This paper proposes an interpretation of the novel fragment Herpillis (PDubl. C3), pointing out the motifs it shares with the Greek novels, both the complete ones and the fragments. A translation is given and a formal study of the text is undertaken, paying special attention to its vocabulary, syntax and rhetorical figures. The ekphrasis of the storm, which follows the guidelines of the progymnasmatic exercise, is analysed in detail. The rhetorical character of the text and its literary tradition are highlighted. |
