This work presents characteristics and results of the evaluation process developed within the framework of the optional seminar called "Analysis and formulation of mathematical models", offered by the Chair of Calculus for Economic Sciences of the Faculty of Economic Sciences (FCE) of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL). A formative methodological strategy with emphasis on evaluation is proposed, since the accumulated evidence in the area of science education suggests that the understanding of central ideas in a discipline, as well as the development of scientific practices, demands the active participation of students in the construction of their own knowledge. Assessment matrices were developed considering the following dimensions of analysis: report presentation, mathematical development and skills development, and three assessment coefficients associated with their respective matrices were defined. The first coefficient, coef_1, appraised teamwork and the democratization of knowledge, all of which was satisfactory; coef_2 assessed the ability in solving a mini-case of a parameterized model pre-established by the teachers, where the inconveniences in the work of the use of parameters in mathematics were noted; meanwhile, coef_3 assessed the skill in posing and solving a problem of interest for each team, as well as the ability of interdisciplinary linkage, which evidenced a disconnection between the proposed problem and the mathematical analysis performed. A semi-structured survey was applied to the students in order to know if their expectations when registering for the seminar were met. According to their responses, this was accomplished satisfactorily. |

A semi-structured survey was applied to the students in order to know if their expectations when registering for the seminar were met. According to their responses, this was accomplished satisfactorily.
