Sumario:This work offers a first advance from Political Ecology in the analysis of the discursive construction of Estanislao Zeballos at the head of the Argentine Geographic Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It seeks to question Zeballos’ performance as a writer as well as his political and scientific role in the context of the formation of the modern Argentinean Nation State at the end of the 19th century, where different conceptions and valorizations of nature were disputed to the detriment of other cosmovisions and appropria tions typical of the original populations of Pampa-Patagonia.
