| Sumario: | This article examines the importance of the Zapatista movement in contemporaryindigenous identity in Mexico, focusing on the Zapatista Army of National Liberation(EZLN). The central question is: How has the Zapatista movement contributed tostrengthening the resistance and struggle of indigenous peoples in Mexico? The studyadopts a qualitative approach, using documentary analysis and a narrative literaturereview. The EZLN is seen as an inspirational model for indigenous communities inLatin America, standing out as a response to the social exclusion and poverty imposedby capitalism. The analysis reveals that the movement denounces the historical impactsof colonization, in addition to promoting organized resistance and solidarity amongindigenous peoples in the struggle for justice, dignity and recognition. |
