Sumario:The article proposes a reflection on the process of interaction between masters of Oral Tradition (and theirs knowledge) and the school - the place par excellence of formal education. This reflection is based on the depositions of oral tradition masters that were part of the Programa Ação Griô Nacional. The depositions were analyzed trying to perceive the process of interaction between oral traditional knowledge and formal education, based on the concepts of hegemonic culture, subaltern culture and popular culture.
