Sumario:This paper addresses the issue of relations between health and development, bringing the discussion to the field of relations between environment and health. In the evolution of studies and researches in the field of epidemiology we notice that the importance of socio-economic factors was relatively left aside. However, the effects of development on people’s health did not prevent that in the past 20 years, the issue again in discussions with vitality of the field of health and public policy in general. Claims on models of development and its logic of production and expropriation have been recorded in almost the entire planet, asking themselves and demanding to take action on environmental costs, social and economic them. The prospects of development, including the idea of sustentatibilidade, are focused from the processes of health-disease of the population and public policy related to this issue.
