I15-R239-article-12252020-11-17T00:57:17Z Care service as unpaid work in Jujuy province, Argentina El servicio de cuidado como trabajo no remunerado en la provincia de Jujuy, Argentina Barconte, Luciana Soledad families gender inequality care unpaid work Jujuy familias desigualdad de género cuidados trabajos no remunerados Jujuy According to the way in which a society distributes care, this will generate greater equality or will deepen inequality, usually to the detriment of women. This article analyses the burden of care faced by families through the data provided by the time use survey conducted in Argentina in 2013, comparing the values recorded for Jujuy province to the national urban total and to the values obtained for the provinces that form the Norte Grande Region. The analysis leads us to infer that women in Jujuy, as in Latin America in general, are overburdened with responsibilities, usually bigger depending on where they live and the social class to which they belong. It is therefore necessary to formulate public policies aimed at improving this distribution of care and to promote the transfer of some of these responsibilities to the market, the civil society organizations and the State.
