Sumario:This article is inserted into a set of studies that analyze the associationism in the years before the emergence of the Peronism in Argentina. It aims to examine the neighborhood associations in San Salvador de Jujuy. Special attention is given to the neighborhood associative practices, its policy and fostering activities; its institutions and prominent leaders. The aim is to deepen the analysis on Gorriti, one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Salvador de Jujuy. Our hypothesis is that the neighborhood association activities in San Salvador de Jujuy continued with intensity in the first peronist government. It is related to political practices previously developed by the “Tanquismo” in neighborhoods, and configured in a particular way during this popular government. This activity had conflicts, what that showed how the associative institutions tried to preserve their autonomy and decisions in this period.
