| Sumario: | Our article addresses the problems of research in political science and international relations by linking the main theoretical foundations of these disciplines with what, perhaps, is the core problem of scientific knowledge: the objectivism/subjectivism axis and, in turn, placing the focus on the practical dimension of science: its social uses. The result constitutes an epistemological reflection that shows the complex heuristic, methodological and ideological interlinkages that are inherent, and not contingent, to the knowledge process. We think that ideas can be taken from the judgments presented in these pages to enhance the critical teaching of epistemology at the university level. |
