Sumario:In this article I present some of Mara Viveros’ main politic and theoretical reflections about her studies on masculinities in Colombia. First, I describe the methodological and theoretical framework used by Viveros Vigoya in her works between 1995 and 2002, having as a fundamental reference Quebradores y Cumplidores: sobre hombres, masculinidades y relaciones de género en Colombia from 2002. In second place, I define some of the author’s theoretical displacements, new reflections and critiques using as central reference the book Les Coulers de la masculinité from 2018, that gathers big part of her work on masculinities from 2002 to present. In this way I want to show the way in which Viveros Vigoya positions masculinity studies in Colombia, not only by being a field’s precursor, but by building, over more than 20 years, a solid feminist reflection from the intersectional and our-American perspective of gender and race. This, in order to demonstrate the significance of studying masculinity subjectivities for the understanding of social movements in Colombia.
