Sumario: | In this article, I propose approaching different modulations which support the projects and debates of young intellectuals around the problem of the construction of a national culture in Argentina and Brazil. It is based on the analysis of two emblematic magazines of the 1920s: the modernist magazine Estética (1924-1925) and the Argentine magazine Martín Fierro (1924-1927). A first reading of the material suggests that these two ventures are very different from each other as regards their format, syntax, periodicity, and duration. However, a joint analysis is based on the fact that both magazines belong to a turning point and redefinition of the objectives of the aesthetic renovation. Elucidating the diverse debates, projects, agreements and disagreements through which the young Argentine and Brazilian intellectuals expressed their concern for the construction of a national culture in the twenties is the central objective of this work. |
