Sumario:The issue of the students' choice of higher education institutions from among the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) located at the eastern area of the province of Mendoza is addressed in order to: understand the aspects that take part in it;  identify the social representations linked to such choice, and to research on its causes; and to elucidate some initial questions about the aspects that explain the choice of institution "”the contextual elements, the representations of the training in course, and the topics that predominate in the imaginary about the higher education of the students of the HEIs. It was carried out a methodological design in which the quantitative and qualitative approaches converged. For the collection of information, surveys and biographical-narrative productions were used. Such narrations we analyzed and interpreted from the discourse analysis.
