Sumario:The production of knowledge in social interaction involves research processes characterized by links between academic and non-academic actors, the opening up of academic research agendas to the problems, demands and knowledge needs of society; it implies the shaping of negotiated and contextualized agendas, the participation of diverse actors and the achievement of results that can be used by these actors to satisfy their demands and needs and/or to collaborate in the resolution of their problems. This imposes a set of challenges for policies to stimulate research and, in particular, for the ways in which such research is evaluated, valued and recognised. Thus, and based on the experience of stimulating research by the Scientific Research Council of the Universidad de la República, this article focuses on the description and analysis of the forms of evaluation of research that promotes the production of knowledge in social interaction and its socially valuable use. It also reflects on the challenges for the university policy of stimulating research in dialogue with non-academic actors in society and in the production of goods and services, interested in the research results and in the solutions explored. This work provides knowledge on alternative forms of research evaluation with social and/or productive relevance, in particular on their forms of organization and associated practices.
