Sumario:In this article I deal with the development of anthropology in Argentina since the democratic return at the beginning of the 1980s to the beginning of the current century. My intention is to analyze how the ethnographic became a disciplinary matrix. As I will show, the ethnographic became the accepted and normal mode of anthropological knowledge production in Argentina at the dawn of the new century. On the one hand, I focus my attention on the university teaching of anthropology research and the leadership of key figures, such as Rosana Guber. On the other hand, I show the crucial influence of Brazilian anthropology for the transformation of the disciplinary matrix, which allowed the recovery and legitimization of previous local developments. Finally, I highlight the importance of postgraduate courses for the materialization of disciplinary projects focused on ethnography, which broke the monopoly of legitimate definitions that anthropology careers conserved.
