Sumario:In this paper, we present the results of techno-morphological and archaeometric analyzes applied to lithic artifacts and ceramic fragments from the Arbolito archaeological locality, situated in the plain of the Patagonia of Mendoza (Argentina). Our objective is to characterize the technological strategies performed by human groups in such space during the late Holocene and to verify the trends concerning the expectations proposed for this scenario. The results show that local resources were used to manufacture lithic artifacts and ceramic vessels, as was previously observed in other sites in the area. The record of exotic goods (i.e., distant obsidian sources, foreign ceramic styles) suggests the interaction with other environments at great distances. We propose that their presence would be motivated by non-technological purposes. The technological perspective allowed us to evaluate the strategies implemented in the plain of the Patagonia of Mendoza and to contribute to the regional discussion on mobility and human occupation in these environments.
