| Sumario: | The process of tuberization in sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) CV. Criolla Anarilla, in relation to different cultural techniques, was studied. It was found corelation between growth of foliage (vines ) and y ield of roots (tubers) vine pruning ( a cammon practice in the producing area ) produces a decrease in yield. Growth regulators aplications (CCC, ANA and AGs) at the begining of tuberization do not increase ( or decrease ) yield. A good conservation of tubers was achieved through a curing process. It is postulated that the so called "vice" (excesive vine growth) is the consecuence rather than cause of a poor tuber yiled. |
