Sumario: This article proposes a theoretical analysis of the implications of the  curricularization of extension. Special attention is paid to the integration of the extension, design and planning of the study programmes.  A subject program is a pedagogical tool that mediates the teaching and learning practice while condensing the working criteria with which a given object of study will be addressed. From this perspective, the incorporation of extension as an approach to the design of the analytical program constitutes a challenge for the ways of approaching, understanding and influencing social problems.  The debates on the curricularization of extension in argentine universities paved the way to articulate the teaching and research functions with the different proposals of university formation. Yet, this is a first step. For this reason, it is important to analyze some aspects of the didactic planning that allow to make the experiences possible and their evaluation. In this sense, integrating extension as both approach and practice into curricula and study programs contributes to its hierarchy (Petz, 2017; Zavaro Perez, 2019) and challenges the teaching and learning processes in higher education.
