Sumario:The Covid-19 pandemic and sanitary measures entailed changes in all social spheres and had an important impact in artistic worlds, either traditional institutions, production, teaching and learning practices. These transformations were even more dramatic in activities such as theatre, where co-presence is a principal aspect. This article examines the situation of theatre in Tucumán during the first year of pandemic. The report presents important data on the activity’s crisis prior to the sanitary measures in 2020. Theatre artists had difficulties to be legitimate as workers and enforce their demands facing the State. This paper shows the situation in theatres and how companies reacted during the first openings. Hence, this essay reflects on the most relevant problem theatre artists will be facing: attracting public. The present results can contribute to a better understanding of the situation of arts during the Covid-19 pandemic, the problems it highlighted and future challenges for the activity.
