Eucalyptus clonal material resistance to cold frost Eucalyptus material clonal resistencia al frío heladas The production of Eucalyptus sp. has climatic limitations due to low temperatures, varying frost resistance with different species and even among different clonal materials. A trial was carried out in the Center-South of Buenos Aires province where Eucalyptus sp. clonal materials were exposed to extreme cold in the field and their behavior was described. During the first winter a minimum of -8.4 °C (50 cm from the ground) was recorded, which meant severe damage to most of the materials. It was concluded that, of the clones tested, DDX00078 (Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus camaldulensis) stood out from the rest, being recommended for use in marginal areas with less severe thermal regimes than the site tested.
