This article demonstrates the persistence and significance of solar worship during the Republican era, challenging the notion of a hiatus in the cult. Through an analysis of literary, archaeological, and numismatic evidence, the study identifies the early geography of the cult in Lavinium and the Circus Maximus, linking it to Rome's Trojan origins. Furthermore, the paper establishes a necessary distinction between the Sabine gentile cult of the gens Aurelia and the public cult of Sol Indiges. Finally, the numismatic analysis illustrates the political evolution of the deity, shifting from a state symbol to a tool for personal propaganda during the crisis of the Republic, thus anticipating Imperial solar theology. La figura de Sol constituye un elemento constante en el universo religioso romano, presente desde los orígenes de la Urbs hasta la cristianización del Imperio. Este artículo demuestra la continuidad y relevancia del culto solar durante la época republicana, refutando la idea de un vacío de culto en este periodo. A través del análisis de fuentes literarias, arqueológicas y numismáticas, se localiza la geografía inicial del culto en Lavinio y el Circo Máximo, vinculándolo a los orígenes troyanos de Roma. Asimismo, el estudio propone una necesaria distinción entre el culto gentilicio sabino de la gens Aurelia y el culto público a Sol Indiges. Finalmente, el análisis de las emisiones monetales evidencia la evolución política de la deidad, que pasa de ser un símbolo estatal a convertirse en una herramienta de legitimación personal durante la crisis de la República, prefigurando la teología solar imperial.
