Sumario:According to Gianni Vattimo, today increasing worldviews involve the ability to change one's point of view in a figurative representation. This changes the way of thinking about the subject and the truth of the phenomenon and, therefore, the subject will be characterized by the inner division of feeling multiple certainties and a lack of them. In this regard, T. Todorov believes that figurative representation occurs in a triple dimension that reveals the differences existing in the reality around which this problem revolves. The concept of figurative representation is central in order to be able to ensure its space in idiomatic expressions as a cultural imprint within a language-culture tradition both at an iconic (linguistic imaginary) and a semantic-expressive (repeated speech) level. Such representation needs an instance of mediation that can make it visible and the role of idiomatic expressions in this sense is fundamental. This paper, included in the research project "Creation of a Phraseodidactic Database of Italian-Spanish & Spanish-Italian Idiomatic Expressions", takes as its starting point a phraseological theory that relies on Hermeneutics and Reader-Oriented Theory in order to survey the traits that make the figurative representation emerge from a corpus of idiomatic expression choices as paradigmatic examples. A brief conclusion will then be drawn from the Todorovian perspective on the question of this representation at epistemological, axiological and praxeological levels as a representation of animals among others, as an inner division and starting from the analysis in a contrastive way as a contribution of new knowledge to language teaching and translation.
