Through the present work, disability is going to be analyzed, mainly the one that affects hearing, as a result of a framework of lacks and excesses of senses. It is crucial to reflect upon the need of listening to the other, understanding that listening does not have to do only with a biological component and also that there are many ways of listening. When the sense of hearing is touched, an effect of individual and collective cries –both of whom suffers and whom does not suffer from hearing difficulties –is generated. Extreme silences are also provoked. If these arisen issues are framed by postmodern ideals, it can be observed that health is offered as a commodity product and that the approaches to it are technical, operational and efficient. Trying to listen to others may become difficult for a society too concerned with the speed of results. Autistic disorders manifest a selective deafness which accounts for the fact that deafness cannot be reduced to a biological component. Moreover, listening is not only through our ears. Institutional functionings are observed where the lack and excess of deafness become manifest. An example of such institutional functionings is the value attributed to the early diagnoses and the set of treatments to which the diagnosed person is subject to when she or he presents a disability. A diagnosed child may lose its condition of such. The labeling either marginalizes or tampers the developmentof her or his affective life. A progressive loss of the ability of hearing is observed while “the technique” is transformed in the new means of communication. This shows a breakdown in the social link and the technique as an alternative. The methods employed for the treatment of deafness are composed by techniques that “do not listen”. To try to listen means to try to go into the laws of hearing of the other. |

A través del siguiente trabajo se analizará la discapacidad, principalmente la que afecta al oído, como emergente de un entramado de faltas y excesos de sentidos. Es fundamental reflexionar sobre la necesidad de oír al otro, entendiendo que la escucha no se limita a un componente biológico y que existen diversas formas de escuchar. Cuando el sentido del oído se toca se generan efectos de gritos individuales y colectivos, de quien padece y de quien no padece dificultades en la audición, también se provocan silencios extremos. Si se encuadran estos emergentes bajo los ideales postmodernos, se observa que la salud se ofrece como producto de consumo y los abordajes de la misma son técnicos, operativos y eficaces. Intentar oír al otro se torna dificultoso para una sociedad ocupada en la velocidad de los resultados. Los trastornos autistas manifiestan una sordera selectiva que da cuenta de que la audición no puede reducirse a un componente biológico. Además, la escucha no es sólo a través de los oídos. Se observan funcionamientos institucionales donde se manifiesta exceso y falta de la misma. Por ejemplo, el valor atribuido al diagnóstico precoz y el combo de tratamientos al que queda sujeta una persona cuando presenta una discapacidad. Un niño diagnosticado puede perder su condición de tal. El rótulo desplaza, o se interpone, en el despliegue de su vida afectiva. Se observa una pérdida progresiva de las posibilidades de escucha de una persona a medida que “la técnica” se convierte en el nuevo modo de comunicación. Esto evidencia una ruptura en el lazo social y a la técnica como su alternativa. Los métodos para el tratamiento de la sordera están compuestos de técnicas que no “oyen”. Intentar oír es intentar introducirnos a las leyes del oído del otro.
