Sumario:This article studies the characteristics of the newspaper Trópico from Tucumán, to evaluate its potential as a source for the study of the Peronist sugar industry policy (1947-1950). We show that this was an official media that carefully analyzed the issues of this industry. It represented the position of its printing institution, the National University of Tucumán (UNT), whose purpose was to influence the official sugar policy. His interpretations were from a Peronist ideological perspective. However, some differences are noted with respect to the official policy, evidencing a certain degree of autonomy. All this makes Trópico a source of relevance, since it allows studying the position of an actor, the UNT, which was not considered in previous studies.
