Sumario:Several researches have analyzed the teaching and learning processes that occur in distance education, specifically discussion forums, using different approaches and highlighting the need to explore new ways that allow knowing the specific conditions in which these processes occur. However, there are still difficulties in accounting for the learning that takes place in these environments. The objective of this article is to analyze the learning opportunities that are generated in the distance course forums on academic writing aimed at university professors. A micro ethnographic research design and ethnographically based discourse analysis were used to analyze the participation in forums in the context of the workshop. The results show that it is possible to intentionally generate these learning opportunities in a distance course to collectively negotiate meanings, question ideas or previous experiences about academic writing.
