Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to describe threemedical records of the detainees LuisCastruccio, Cayetano Santos Godino andAlejandro Puglia that were produced in theInstitute of Criminology at the NationalPenitentiary in Buenos Aires between 1907and 1913 and published in the journal Archivosde Psiquiatría, Criminología, Medicina Legal yCiencias Afines. In those records some aspectscan be related with the notion of “mala vida”that included behaviors considered dangerousbetween the crime and the madness and waslinked with categories of the criminalpsychopathological discipline that wasinitiated in Argentina by José Ingenieros. Forthat purpose we will describe the historicalcontext of the emergence of the notion of“mala vida” in this period, aspects of prisonand theoretical models that converged on thesubject. In addition, we will refer to thejournal Archives, the National Penitentiary, thefunctions of the Institute of Criminology, and,finally, the medical records. |
