This work aims to date the tiles of the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Merced in the city of Alta Gracia (Cordoba, Argentina) using a magnetic methodology. Our objective was to contribute to the absolute chronology of the Jesuit Mission in this region, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. The age interval (1780-1806) was obtained by means of the archeomagnetism using the SHA.DIF.14k geomagnetic field prediction model. This age corresponds to the stage of the Rodriguez administration (1772-1809), in particular the period of Jose Rodriguez and his son Manuel, since later the property was rented out. In other words, it is unlikely that the tiles were laid during the Jesuit period or during the short stay of the viceroy Santiago de Liniers in the early months of 1810. © 2017 ARQUEOLOGÍA IBEROAMERICANA. |l eng | |
